    Xbox Live Troubles

Recently my internet connection has been acting up so badly, but its kind of stable just now and working on my PC but I cant connect to Live through it the way I normally do by using ICS on my PC.

What do the settings need to be for this again on both PC and Live as I've been messing about so much I cant remember what it was originally.

On both PC and 360, I set the options to get IP addresses automatically, which I'm sure it always done fine from the DHCP just like my PC does for the internet itself. But it just wont do it and always fails the test connection part on the 360 at the MUT (or MTU? ) and its getting quite annoying now!!

Any ideas on how to get it working again?

Still fails, this is getting annoying. Especially since its just happened out the blue, I havent changed ISPs or got a new router or anything.

dude this has started to happen to me as of last night!
Random disconnections every 10-15 mins,my internet connection is fine but keep failing on my IP address-this is total balls.
I've just gone and bought a new ethernet cable cos I thought it may be that.
I'm also gonna set up on PSN and see if it is a dodgy connection to LIVE
****ing pissed cos I was planning huge session over the easter weekend

              aRRGH!
              This is becoming annoying now.
I can't stay in a game for more than a couple of mins now, when last week I had zero problems. How does this stuff happen?
I logged onto the PSN network and all seems to be well, very little lag and no disconnection problems.
              All seems fine there.
Back over on LIVE it's just a piss take,I'm gonna cry.
              (I'm using a webstar modem on a 2meg virgin media line )
Sorry for the rant any help would be greatly recieved..

I tried all those guides and I couldnt get my 360 to work with my Linksys piece of poo wireless game adapter, so I just went out and bought the official wireless adapter, it was up and running within a couple of minutes - piece of piss..

                  hi fellas
                  still suffering here
I did a speed test and these results came up,can you tell me if this is enough to sustain a connection to xbox live?
                  cheers.

That seems fine to me. You should be able to play games without any trouble providing you aren't downloading anything on your PC at the same time, but you don't really have a high enough upload to host anything but the simplest of games (most Live Arcade games would be fine but regular games probably not).

                      thanks matty
I dont have my PC on at the same time as I have only have a USB modem
it's either live or the PC not both at the same time.
Whats odd is that it has come out of the blue,I havent had any probs for ages.
I did have this problem once before.
When I looked in the control panel at the modem it said that it was a 56k modem of some description not the webstar model that I use!
Thing is there was no other options for the webstar or anything.

If you are getting disconnects and are directly connected to the modem you need to speak to your ISP about it

Hmm well I'll say this in hushed tones but as of yesterday it's gone away.
As quickly as it came it has vanished, like a foul pestilence upon my gaming habit.
Maybe it was just NTL being ****e.
                          Thanks fellas.

This is out of order now, been going on for weeks and it still wont connect. I really dont know what to do. Keeps failing at the MTU, tried those wee programs to change your MTU but does nothing. And it wont even allow me to connect to my PC either like it normally would to stream audio/video! Its a total nightmare with all this amazing stuff coming out on Live the next week!

Well I just got a new modem from Virgin since apparently my old one was out of date, booted it all up fine now but Live still wont connect thanks to MTU failing. And my internet still wont go at full speed anyway. I really grudge buying a new router incase its not the problem since Virgin have said that apparently everything is 100% on their end!
