Problems with Xploder PS2 HD disc

I'v got this disc and am using on a modded (messiah) old PS2. Whenever i run it and select an HD mode (480p mainly), it says "insert disc and press start". Nothing happens. Do i need files on my memory card to run it aswell or just the disc?

Might need to disable your chip before it works.

I can't because i'm booting it off a cd-r, i didn't want to pay 25 quid for the disc before i knew what it was like.

It is not possible to load it from a CD-R as it does a media check when the program starts, if that fails it will not load the game.

It is possible to fool it if you have the ability to execute ELF files from some kind of removeable storage whilst having an original disk inserted.

Although lots of people seem to not like it, I personally think its great. If used with the PS2 VGA Adapter and the correct game it makes a large improvement to the quality and the game speed.

I play FFXII @ 640x480 75Hz VGA and its runs smoother, faster and much clearer.

the package did come with an elf file, i wasn't sure if that was simply an alternative method rather than a part of the whole process. Im hoping to force 480p for my 40" tv through component. cheers for the help, much appreciated everyone.
