It's well known now that you can a Mastercard credit card to circumvent any difference between profile / system and where you actually are in the world.
So in other words with a Mastercard on Live you can buy points on a US account and on the PS Network you can make purchases from the different region stores.
This seems to be an issue with Mastercard rather than the networks. The question I have is how safe is this?
What got me thinking was that you're putting in perfectly valid card details but with a made up address (made up as in its actually somewhere in that region with an amalgamation of zip code and addresses etc)
Does anything (like statements, correspondence etc) get sent there? Or does it all still go to the cardholders address?
I'd always assumed it was the latter as there's no paper billing with purchases from each network.
Anyone have any idea?
edit:- Hmm, not along the lines of what I was asking, but it seems there's a potential problem with Live and credit cards that don't match.
The rumours going round at the end of last years about banning profiles that didn't match locations might have been misinterpreted from a story where people were getting banned for having credit cards billings that didn't match their location.
Seems Points cards are OK to use but the credit card mismatching has the potential to get your account removed.
