Chaps, I need some advice. Here's the deal.
I need to buy a new SD tv, which I will be using for both the wii and the ps2. It needs to support an NTSC signal as both of the aforementioned consoles will be american. However, I don't want an expensive option as I'll really only be using it (for the most part) for a fairly short term.
This is because in november/december I'll be buying an HDTV as I plan to get a ps3 around that time. When that happens, I will connect the wii to the HDTV... but I will still want to keep the SD tv. As I understand it will produce a better picture than the HDTV will when running a ps2. Please correct me if I'm wrong here.
On the other hand... IF the HDTV will still handle the ps2 well enough, then I'll forget this nonsense about buying a new tv. In that case I will hook up the ps2 to my current 14" sd tv (which I'm slightly reluctant to do, but if its the more rational thing to do then so be it) and the wii either to the same tv, or get a component to vga converter (for ?90 or so quid) and put my Acer 1916WS to use. Assuming Twilight Princess and RE4 will run in widescreen and look gorgeous on it.
So there we have it. Ideally I'd prefer holding out on buying an SD tv... mostly because it's just too much of a hassle for a relatively short term experience (getting rid of the monitor, the 14" tv, then getting the new sd tv...), but I don't want to sacrifice any wii or ps2 gaming in the meanwhile either.
Can anyone offer any suggestions as to what I should do? Essentially, I will keep my current set-up if:
- the ps2 will produce a good picture on an HDTV set - will have to be through RGB I'd imagine as most ps2 games won't support component
and
- the wii can play Zelda and RE4 in widescreen in good quality picture on the Acer 1916ws
or
- the wii games will look quite good on my 14" tv.
That's about the size of things. Will appreciate any help.
