FINAL FANTASY 11 for PS2 (PAL)

    Hi,

I really want to get Final fantasy 11 to play on my PS2 slimline in the UK. But i have some problems. I am aware the FF11 is only available for ps2 as the ntsc version..and it won't work if i get my ps2 chipped. So i would need to purchase a boot disc.

I have been told that FF11 can't be played on slim line PS2...is this true? And is the hard disc required for me to play the game? Also..if i were to play it on a PC..would it be the same quality as the PS2? How could i change my PC to get the best quality for playing FF11? I really need advice on this

    thank you

Yes, to play FFXI on a PS2 you will need the HDD which is not compatible with the slimline PS2.

PC version is of a higher quality than the PS2 version as it can be played in higher resolution than the PS2 version can run it. My PC is 4 years old this May (was top of the line when purchased) and runs FFXI with no problems whatsoever.

It’s not a demanding piece of software at all and is getting on for 5 years old itself.

Not even via USB on the PS2? (it probably won't be recognised, as the software doesn't support it).
There is a case mod, so you can fit a IDE HDD in a slimline PS2 too, this might get it going.

Even if you were to get a HDD working with any style PAL PS2, there would still be DNAS to deal with.

Even if you got it to boot, DNAS would see that the game is NTSC but the console is PAL and halt the game.

Also FFXI only works with the official $ony HDD so that means you would need an old style NTSC PS2 with an official HDD to get it to work. Not worth it.

If you are hell bent on wasting your money then I think that you would be better off getting the PC version as it would be easier, cheaper and look better. Only downside being that the game might be a little smaller on your monitor.

Or if your PC isn't good enough, get a 360. Surely not much more expensive than getting an import old-style PS2 (which you will need, bottom line), official Sony HDD, the individual FFXI addons...
