correct resolution for 1080i via vga

I have a xbox 360 and are using vga but am unsure which of the many modes I have to chose from represents 1080i any help is greaqtly appreciated.

Also is it true that 1080 i will result in more screen tearing?

You can't get 1080i (as in interlaced) via a VGA connection afaik.

The TV you have takes the proper 1080 res via VGA tho doesn't it? Just try the highest and see if it works

Depends entirely on what resolution your TV is, and more importantly, what resolutions it accepts via VGA.

      What TV is it?

I personally prefer just using 1080i over Component.

I think the most they take over VGA is 1280x768, iirc. Not really worth the bother.

The official manual of the WLT66 states:

            VGA: 640 x 480/60 Hz (VESA)
            SVGA: 800 x 600/60 Hz (VESA)
            XGA: 1024 x 768/60 Hz (VESA)
            SXGA: 1280 x 1024/60 Hz (VESA)

So I'd probably suggest component to get the best 1080i out of the 360 to the TV.

Cheers for the help guys, guess I should have checked the manual.

Hmmm, the Wii's on component, so maybe I should get a splitter box.

1280*1024 set at widescreen should give you a proper high def picture in widescreen on the TV.

If you do I reccomend the farmer one, I have it and don't notice any degrading of the picture at all. I know a lot of others will say the same.

tbh I found the Farmer to be quite lossy. There seems to be mixed opinions on here.

Give this a go imo http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-...n-70-1smg.html

my farmer box gave me no problems for 2 years, but with my new TV there are streaks across the screen whenever I use it.

                        Yeah, I second to that!

                        Almost like scrolling diagonal scanlines!

Apparently someone that I met tonight told me that it might be interference from something that you might have nearby.
