    Goemon

Would anyone happen to know if Konami have any plans to resurrect the great gaming franshise that is Goemon?

I'd been waiting for a new title on the last generation, but nothing. I don't understand how that came to be, considering the amount of rubbish that was released on the outgoing generation consoles.

I picked up his first N64 outing and fell in love with the title. That caused me to seek out the earlier 2D iterations. As far as Im concerned, the the characters are as iconic as the overly prostituted Mario or Sonic.

Thus, Konami should be keeping the series alive across the hardware generations. I did see the abomination that was the GBA game and baulked at what happened, however the pull of the original games is so strong that I can hope that I see a new game true to it's brilliant quirky roots. It encapsulates everything that gaming should be.

So in summary, I refer to my original question.

There was Goemon game for DS in Japan, but it wasn't really that good, or so I have heard.

Yes, I had heard about the DS version and considered getting a DS for it. I thought it got decent reviews. However I am hoping for a version on a non portable console.

Yeah, home console version would be nice, but unfortunately there is no market for Goemon anymore.

The PS2 version was planned for the west but never ever made it, unfortunately...The DS one may make it at some point in the future but the character isn't really very "western" appealling, so who knows.

I really enjoyed the DS version and would hunt it down if you're a Goemon fan. Its not always the best playing in JPN but I got through the game ok with a bit of help from the first play thread.

I'll second a recommendation for the DS Goemon. The art style is gorgeous and there are some really nice ideas in the platforming sections (although it means the tricky task of playing normally whilst holding the stylus - just in case). Playing through the JPN version isn't impossible, either.
