    CPS2 Emulator - PSP - help needed

Can anyone tell me if it's possible to run the CPS2 emulator on custom firmware 3.10 OE?

I'm desperate to play Progear on my new PSP but every time I try to find the answers (mainly on dcemu), it just seems increasingly more complicated.

    Yes is the simple answer.

    Linky!

So any references to 1.0 and 1.5 can be ignored ... the emulator will still work on a system running 3.10 OE?

3.10 OE is based on 1.5, so any homebrew for 1.5 works on OE firmwares. Just make sure you put it in the correct game folder ie. game or game150 depending on how the kernel is set.

1.0 homebrew works on the OE firmware as well. In fact when I downloaded it the CPS-2 one came only formatted for 1.0. I prefer those ones because it doesn't have the corrupt folders and you can delete it from the Memory Stick from within the XMB without leaving anything behind.

Maybe I'll try that version first. Thanks for that.

              Another question ...

On the installation guide, it states plugging the PSP into your PC via USB. Do you have to do this or can you do it all directly onto the memory stick (memory stick plugged directly into the PC)?

either way works fine, it's just about getting the data onto the mem stick

I don't have much of a clue about these things. Just wanted to be 100% sure nothing needed to go directly onto the system itself.Excellent. Thanks again.

I've installed the emulator and followed the procedure to install Progear but when I load 'CPS2PSP 2.0' the screen goes dark, it accesses the memory stick, and then comes back with 'The game could not be started (80020148)'. Any idea what I could be doing wrong?

Make sure the firmware is set up to use the 1.50 kernel on the GAME folder, assuming that's where you put the emulator. Turn on the PSP while holding the R button to enter recovery mode, go into the configuration menu, and set 'game folder homebrew' (or something similar) to 1.5.

Okay, I'll take a look and try that. Many thanks.

Also, when you place the rom into the ROM folder, do you put the full zip file in as it is, or do you open it and select all the separate files?

Use the complete zip file. had never tried the cps2 emu until you posted this thread, but tried it last night and it works great. Progear is haaaard though..

You need to stick the full zip file in the ROM folder and the cache file in the cache folder. There's an option in the cache file generator to remove unneeded files from the zip file (the cache means that some assets are repeated) if you need to save space.
