The cable works with all games, it's rebuilt for them nasty 50 Hz-only games.

It really surprised me to see Q's going on Ebay for much less than they originally costed, but this also has alot to do with bad chip installs and errors derived from them, bad maintenance and being 'regular' editions (ie no region/mp3 mods etc)

I paid € 650 for it, I know, it's ALOT, but ordered it through the shop where I then worked and had a payment plan. You should also know that they went for about €450 (?) at Lik Sang (premodded), and transport would be about €100 or so.

Combined with the RGB cable (which cost me only €20) a BBA to rip and a GameBoy player (thanks MoFo!) + flash carts, this is a great console!!

I only regret not having a Viper Extreme, as it has more room to store apps and it can be custumised with own interfaces.

Now if they only can commercialise the HDD add-on....

PS: I can still obtain 1 MINT, NEW Q with all of the mods installed, if interested PM me (it's from my friend's nearby shop, Belgium) Don't expect it to be cheap, though, and transport would kill your wallet...

I can also install a Viper, so it can play US/JAP/PAL games, and remove the original region switch if desired. The only thing I cannot provide atm is the D-link cable for the 50 Hz issue on games.

I know there isn't really any sensible advantage to getting one when compared to a chipped cube or Wii.

It's more of a "want" thing.

I don't yet have a Wii so I may just get one of those in a few months instead. Is it possible to chip a Wii to make it region free for cube/Wii games? I know they are working on a swap disc for it but I'd prefer a chip...as long as it was safe.

I remember I bought my Q from LanKwei back in early 2002. Mine is modded so it can play US/JP-games, MP3, VCD and all regions DVD. Afaik the Q cannot be modded to play PAL GC-games, but maybe Viper (and other GC modchips) can fix this? I plan on getting a component cable for the Q (when I get a LCD-TV) instead of using my RGB-modded cable - wise?

I bought one for £360 when they first came out. I know, an insane price, but it seemed like a good idea at the time. And to be honest, I can't complain! It's not that ugly, it glows blue, it even says "hello" and "goodbye" to you.

THEN I got another one on impulse when working in Hong Kong. About £200 brand-new, the guy was so pleased that I was actually buying it he gave me a free copy of Ong Bak and made me promise to come back one day! Don't know why I got it, don't use it, entirely irrational.

A modded all-region DVD enabled console with a Gameboy Player on a non-HD television [but modded SCART] is about all the goodness anyone could need in their front room. I'd recommend a Hori pad and one of the many nice and reasonably priced arcade sticks for completion's sake.

The Gameboy Players are quite pricey if I remember correctly - seem to remember someone cutting the legs off his Q to fit a standard 'Cube player. Mindless! Are they more freely [or cheaply] available now?

They had it here: http://www.gamechoiceclub.com/search...gory=Accessory , but now it says 'restock soon'.

The wavebirds are also a good addition for the Q, they're available in two colors of grey. (got mine for € 19 each in a sales clear-out) I think the second grey (like the Panasonic controller) was only released in Asia. Shame the dongle covers the blue leds on the front.

Oh I wish DivX could be done properly with a chip on the Q. (I think it can be done with some Linux hack though, but too much fiddly stuff with progs etc)
