I deleted something off my mac and now music isn't in my itunes and photos aren't in.

Right, I was running a little low on space so I decided to delete some things and of course not knowing my arse from my tit with computers, I ****ing deleted something and now my bookmarks are gone, my photos and music aren't in iphoto or itunes but they're still on my computer in the folders they've always been in, if that make sense. My .mac mail account doesn't load automaticly like it used to.

I'm pretty sure I deleted something in my library folder that I thought I had downloaded and didn't use anymore. I'm living abroad for 10 months so I haven't backed up for 8 months, but everythings still here, it's just not in its applications!

I'm hoping this has happened to someone before (I'm also praying) and that all I have to do is download a liitle app to sort this out.

    Computer wizzes I beg you.

I've done a little searching and I think the problem is that I changed my user name next to the house icon when you open up the finder. Is there a way to change this back?

What do you have at the bottom of your apple menu, top left? Can you log in from there?

I'm slow so don't get mad but I'm already logged in and I haven't logged out since changing my name. What I did was that I pressed the apple button and 'I' on my home directory name (your mac's short name I believe) to edit the details and the name was 'rogerkearey' and I changed in to 'Roger J. Kearey' without doing it in the system preferences users file which I should have, so now the 'Roger J. Kearey' name has the house icon next to it and all my files and the rogerkearey name just has a blue folder next to it with just the basic files . And also my log out name is my new one and doesn't show my old name.

Again I'm slow and simple hence way I have a mac, but is the reason that the apps and safari don't show my files and bookmarks because they're are linked to the rogerkearey name and not my new one?

Sounds like it mate, so you need to log out of the new name from the apple menu, and then just log in again at the prompt screen with the old name and password.

          I think.

I did it, my slowness went for a while. I checked my keychain and it's linked to my original name so I changed the new one to the old one after changing the old to something else because you can't have them being the same name and I didn't want to delete it just in case I should do and Bam! I'm back in business.

I love ntsc-uk, thanks for your help and if you got the above message you have a great skill because I hardly got that.

            cheers
