DVD9 games question (in particular Sakura Wars)

    Hi,

I'm new to this forum (as well as new to Swap Magic) and have a couple of questions please:

I'm planning on getting a Swap Magic disc with the flip top lid for my slim PS2 but I have heard that it has problems with DVD9 games. As luck would have it two of the games I am most interested in are listed as DVD9 games (the Sakura Wars remake ps2 game and Sakura Wars 5).

Does anyone know if there is any way to play these games using Swap Magic as they are two import games that I would really like to play as I am a huge fan of the Sakura Wars series.

I have also heard that some people have had trouble getting Suikoden 3 to work but I have also read that the newer versions of Swap Magic can play it with no problems. Can anyone please confirm this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

TBH, you're better getting it chipped properly, saves hassle in the long run and allows you to play ALL games and homebrew etc.

Swap magic is an OK solution if you only have a few import games and are patient (not me), but for the cost versus usability you're as well with the chip.

Swap Magic will not run any games that're in DVD9 format (GT4, God of War etc.).

Technically it's possible to get DVD9 games working if you rip them to DVD5 format. If the TOC size is >4.35gb (the swap magic limit) I believe the game also needs to be rebuilt. Not sure how difficult this is to do or how well the games play afterwards/

Chipping is definitely a neater solution though as bootmoster suggests. Swap Magic is perfectly fine for the vast majority of games though and there are only a handful of dvd9 games tbh.
