    Eithernet switch box help please?

Hello, please can someone help me on my setup

i have a wireless router by my pc, which is fine. in my bedroom where i keep all my games i have this wirless gaming receiver

would it be possible to have a cable coming out of the netgear gaming receiver into a eithernet box that allowed me to have several consoles connected to the internet at once for example?

ive seen this on ebay below, is that what i need , or can someone reccomend me one thats compatible with the netgear receiver

I can't see any reason why not. By the looks of it, the one you have is basically a wireless access point in bridge mode. I wouldn't go with your second link there, as that's a hub rather than a switch. Switches are more efficient and better (I'll go into specifics if you want). It may not be essential on modern switches, but usually you'll find they have an 'uplink' port designated and a switch to enable it. From the sounds of the way you want to do things, that would be the way to go.

A better question might be which consoles are you looking to take online? If it's PS3/Wii/360, you'd only need the one ethernet port, no?

The only issue you'll face (as I did) is that the WGE111 will not serve multiple IP addresses to devices that are behind it, so you'll only be able to have one console on at any one time.

If you want to have multiple consoles connected to the net at the same time, you'll need to buy a different Wireless Bridge. I use the Belkin one, but I think the Linksys also allows for multiple devices to be connected simultaneously.

I use a Buffalo WLI-TX4-G54HP “Wireless-G MIMO Performance Ethernet Converter" to do this, it's a wireless bridge with four Ethernet ports so I can have the 360 and a Mac mini hooked up at the same time with some room for expansion. This doesn't help the original poster at all unless replacing the Netgear box is a possibility.

(Yes, the mac mini has built in wireless, but some of the initial run of Intel minis had a really bad wireless card and mine is one of the lucky ones.)
