    Thanks

    as in firewire or iee1394?

Because that has alot higher data rate than USB

iee1394. Higher data rate than USB....so that's the one to use then?

On paper USB2 has a slightly higher data rate than Firewire / ieee1394 but in the real world firewire is a bit faster.

I assume you intend to hook up a camcorder to your computer? Stick with firewire. USB output was added to camcorders because a lot of people didn't have firewire inputs on their PC's. But the DV standard was designed to use firewire. Some camcorders USB outputs cannot deliver the full DV stream to a computer.

usb 2.0 is theoretically faster than firewire but usb 2 works over a master-slave architecture whereas firewire is peer to peer and thusly has no speed overheads. so firewire is faster.

              And...USB 2.0 is rated as 480 mb/s. Firewire 400 as 400 mb/s, firewire 800 (a rare thing, unfortunately) at 800 m/s.
All firewire connections have a better sustained data transfer and can get much closer to their theorical maximum, while USB has a lot of ups and downs during transfer, making the average slightly less slower than FW400.
