    Banned X360s question

So, MS banned modified consoles...I've also read of consoles repaired in Germany and then banned as they were tagged as modified.

I was going to buy a US or JPN model as I would buy games outside Europe, but if I try to connect to the Live network with my US/JPN console from here, in Europe, will I get banned just by confronting my IP and the console region setting?

    Good question.

I have a Jap machine but I dont play on Live (Cant afford the subscription at the mo ) however I did connect & download the update last week & have been on to download the Forza 2 & NBA 2K7 demos over the weekend, all still seems ok so fingers crossed it will work fin for gaming as well??

You'll get the same error if you create an Xbox Live Account with a phoney address (say in the US) and then assign a credit card to it and start loading points etc to it (as it'll be seen as credit card fraud).

That's the only thing to be careful off to be honest.

I'm gonna bump this instead of creating a new thread.

So, I'm very near in getting a NTSC machine, I still need to make up my mind if JAP or US but I'm almost there, especially with Falcons rolling out from the assembly lines.

          Live questions:
          * subscription: are there any problem in matching EU cards and NTSC machines? Workarounds?
          * marketplace: are now places restricted to the console region? I mean, If I have an JPN machine, will I be able to download things for US games and vice versa?
          * buying things on marketplace/XBLA/whatever: what should I do?

Deffo get a JAP machine, there really isn't much point in getting a US one if you can pick between the 2.

I have a PAL and a JAP machine and love having both!

You can create an account for any region on any machine. I have a memory card with my profile on and I swap it between machines as I play. So I use a PAL Live account on a JAP machine with no problems.

I also have a silver JAP account for downloading exclusive demos and videos but have never bought anything off there. The easiest solution for that would be to get a Japanese card though.

So really you are fine to get a JAP machine and use it here. The only slight trouble you will have is buying stuff from the JAP marketplace and downloading content for a game region. For example, I don't know if the PAL Blue Dragon content works with the Japanese or Asian version of Blue Dragon.

There are a bunch of us on here with JAP or Asian machines so if you have any more questions I'm sure one of us can help.

So far the games I'm interested in for the 360 are few, and I already have them all - Senko no Ronde, Silpheed and Idolm@ster, so I would use the marketplace for them - if they have any good downloadable content (doubt I'll ever spend money on Idolm@ster). I'm much more interested in the US XBLA, but if you can freely create accounts I'll go for the JPN machine.
Just one more question: do I need this (http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-...n-70-241y.html) to subscribe to Live? If I got everything alright it won't let me subscribe if I use my EU credit card on a JPN machine.

Like Chopemon I have a PAL and NTSC-J 360. I use Live on both and simply switch my HDD between them. I download any free game content frmm the Japanese marketplace using my Japanese Silver account and can then use it with with main (UK) gamer tag when playing Japanese games using my UK profile.
