The 360 and patches?

In the past few days, EVERY single game I've put in the drive has required an update...I don't know why, and I don't know what for.

Does anybody know why?

Vegas, Guitar Hero II, Pro Evo, Fifa, Crackdown, Frogger (!), etc the list goes on.

Is it to do with the LIVE bans? IE each game checks to see if it's legit?

Just struck me as odd...

every now and again a new update is brought out, only takes a few seconds to update and its anything from security to new features/functions

Did you clear the cache of the xbox to get Crackdown to update?

Because that clears out all the patches.

It's just odd that literally every game I put in needed an update. Are the games THAT buggy nowadays?

It makes you wonder, so is it the patched games the yarrrly pirates should be wary of? It is a little frustrating and in the early days of updates I have seen my screen go all garbled and worried myself silly seeing them, shame it has to be like this

I think it must be something to do with the recent dash update because every game I played after that started a short update of just a few seconds. I guess if they tinker with things in the OS they need to tell the games where to look for certain features etc.

I'm not sure - I was about to post a new thread when I saw this one.

For a while now it seems like my "updates" are overwriting each other (I could be wrong) i.e I play GH2 it updates and then I play 3/4 other games 1 or 2 of which will update then I go back to GH2 and it updates again.

I'm think the cache clear thing might be required ???

Same thing is happening to me with Gears of War. I need to download an update every single time I play it. Only happens on one of my 360s though
