Pal SNES games on Super Famicom

I have an adaptor to play Japanese games on a Pal machine which works by sticking the Pal game in the back and the Japanese game on top. Would this work in my SFC with a Pal game on top and Japanese game in the back or would I need a completely different sort of adaptor?

Think so (gets ready to eat humble pie) - the adaptor uses the cart at the back for the region check, and the cart on top for the game?

That's how I understand it works, just not sure if it works the same if you put the games the other way round!

I don't see why it wouldn't work, though never having had an SFC and never trying it, I couldn't say for certain.. why don't you just try it? I highly doubt it would cause any kind of damage.. (but again, I have never tried it..)

One of these days I'll bust open all my converters and reveal the secrets of the magical insides.

I've tried this with a couple of adaptors and it does work with some PAL games. It bypasses the region-lock, but some PAL games also have a 50Hz check (they won't run if the machine is outputting a 60Hz signal) and many adaptors can't get around this.

The Pro Action Replay Mk 2 is one adaptor which can bypass the 50Hz check. Presumably there are others (including other versions of Action Replay) that can do this too.

The other thing to watch out for is that a few PAL games (e.g. Mario Kart) have small glitches when forced to run at 60Hz.

why don't you mod your snes as per the guide here, looks dead easy and means you'll have a pretty much universal machine.

So the converters we use to play NTSC games on a PAL machine also work for PAL games on a NTSC machine (though not for all games)?
