    an asian region games question

im thinking of maybe buying an asian region xbox360 but i have a few questions

it seems that for rpg's that get released for the asian region there is the option for english text with the original japanese voices...i like this more then the english dubs that mostly get released in usa/europe

all im worried about is do all asian games offer an english option?
it seems MOST of them offer this and that is great

i figure they do this because chinese or korean gamers don't understand japanese?

im just scared that when i buy an asian console that one of my favorite games suddenly only is available in japanese only without english text option so i can't understand anything

anyone have any experience with the asian region gamesmarket that can help me make up my mind

    much appreciated

If you have a look at the region compatibility list on Play Asia it will let you know which games are in English. Quite a lot of the Japanese games have English menus even if the game itself is Japanese.

yes it seems that most asian versions have english text option compared to the japanese version that have none

what im wondering is...do they do this allot?

lets say i have an asian 360 and some new rpg is getting released in japan...will the asian version of this game generally have an english option?

cause being not able to play the US versions with asian 360 (if its not region free) im kinda screwed with japanese only otherwise

PS: i always thought there was no difference between asian and japanese version games...

asian region seems to be for : hongkong,korea,singapore...etc
      japanese version just for japan

never knew that lol (kinda new to this import stuff)

Then you've come to the right place! Welcome btw. I would've posted that last night but didn't realise you'd just joined (was on a high from GRAW 2 and Jack Daniel's).

The only Asian RPG I have is Enchanted Arms. The manual is in English and Japanese, the menus are in English, the voice acting is Japanese and the subtitles are English.

The Japanese version of Blue Dragon was completely Japanese. The newly released (it came out yesterday) Asian version has Japanese and Korean voices and either English or Chinese menus and subtitles.

Hope that gives you an idea of how simple this whole business is.

It's probably easiest if you ask about specific games that you're interested in and if someone here has got it they'll let you know.

        Cheers

On the subject of region free Asian games, has anyone noticed that when playing them in a PAL machine it's louder than normal?

Hmmm. Possibly. I've noticed that my PAL machine is louder than my NTSC-J one. Never really paid attention to which games were in at the time though. Will try and remember to keep an ear out and report back with my findings.

              thx for the explanation
as long as a game has English text im happy

lets say i wanna buy an asian 360 from play-asia is there any way i can calculate beforehand what the import costs are gonna be when it arrives?

i figure this huge packed box from china isn't gonna pass import border control

if anyone has experience with this what exactly are these import costs (im from Belgium) but i figure the costs should be somewhat similar for whole of europe?

              thx guys
