Xbox360 streaming via nero mediahome - any got it to work?

    According to:
Create photo effects, slideshows, make a playlist, connect your cell phone or tablet to the TV, organise photos — you can do all this and more with Nero Media Home.

Nero MediaHome now offers streaming capabilities using an Xbox 360?! Enjoy movies stored on your PC in any room in your house by streaming the file to an Xbox 360?. All you need in addition to an Xbox 360? is the latest update of Nero 7 Premium Reloaded and Windows XP as your OS.

Transcodes your media files on-the-fly into the format your UPnP? device understands.

    -----------

Except I can't get it to work. I have XP and mediahome notices the 360 and the 360 notices mediahome, but the folders that appear on the 360 have nothing to do with the folders I've selected to share on mediahome

Is that an alternative to using WMP11 or do you still need that for it to work ? Could be interested (assuming it does actually work ><)

Thing is, I have no idea. Documentation is sparse and I can't find much in the internet about it that's up to date. There's something from october suggesting you need windows MCE to get it to work, but that link clearly says XP as the OS. I've got WMP11, but had to turn media sharing off for the 360 to notice the nero mediahome sharing server (albeit the wrong folder on the pc).

How do I clear cache in the xbox in case it's remembering the wrong shared folder or something?

In the settings for on the fly transcoding, it clearly has wmv as an option, although it claims it will autodetect so you don't even have to specify. I never got TVersity to work either though, so perhaps it's a weird firewall problem (on my router).

If you are using windows XP why not just use Windows media connect to do that? It's a tiny program and runs in the system tray, before I upgraded to Vista it worked an absolute treat. I found all these transcoding programs end up having some kind of problem and it's easier to just use WMC or WMP and convert the files overnight with WinAvi...

Nero is really good at transcoding, so if I can get it to work, then it should be ideal, especially since I own it already. I want to solve the problem. Not just step around it.

            Dear valued customer,

thank you for your email and your interest in our software.

Unfortunately it's a missunderstanding. You will need a PC with MCE as
an OS to stream videofiles and audiofiles from and to a XBOX 360.

If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

            Best regards
