    360 Pad frustration

Hi all, I have had my xbox since launch and I know the 360 Pad isnt the best in the world but both my wired & Wireless, both bough with the machine make Lumines Pretty unplayable, they often mess up and stop my blocks going in the direction I want and go askew.

What I would like to know is will a new pad sort this or are they still just as awful? I really detest 3rd party pads and will avoid like the plague if possible. Your input is much appreciated as I love the game and having such a problem with the pad make achievements pretty impossible.

The newer official pads are no better I'm afraid, I have a black 360 Elite controller and it's just as bad as my launch one.

But I was considering getting the XFPS as that allows you to use PS1/2 controllers, then investing in that Saturn controller for PS2.

    Worth looking into imo.

Ah yes, I had a converter thing for the xbox 1 as that was just terrible too, but it had latency problems on fighting games, if anyone has an xfps please let us know how good/bad these things are? thank you

How do they mess up during lumines? Are we talking d-pad or sticks? I honestly had not noticed anything untoward while playing lumines... when I lose it's certainly my own fault

I know what he means. Sometimes I would try to drop the shape and it would move a bit left or right during the drop. Quite annoying, the d-pad isn't very good ... didn't stop me getting 200/200 on the game, though.

Have you tried the sandpaper trick?

I got myself a Hori controller: the d-pad is a bit better (like a dual shock d-pad), although the triggers are awful, and the buttons aren't great either!

I also had a cheapo MadCatz controller for a while, it had a SNES style d-pad which was good too ...

Crazy how many people complained about the xbox1 d-pad, and they still managed to mess this one up.

I bought a 360 last week and am finding the dpad useless for 3rd Strike.

            Parrying is virtually impossible.

Got the Hori stick off Ebay but I know I will find that difficult too...Dam PS2 pad....

Someone please advise on whether the XFPS has lag issues etc...

yeah I tried that sandpaper thing with some old files and a lot of mess, nothing works, I guess I will try this ps2 pad adapter, and yes its the dpad, it happens so often now I gave up playing lumines and went back to psp

I will try again with a bit more off the pad, such a messy thing to do for some Lumines perfection

my elite d-pad is 5000 times better than my launch pad, and others on here have also commented on the difference.

Complete night and day for me

Sorry to slightly hijack this thread, but I am looking for a 360 pad for use with my PC for MAME.

I was just going to get the wired pad, but have read that it is not as well made as the wireless pad - is this correct?

Also, I have read mixed reports about the Elite 360 controller having a better d-pad. Is it just wishful thinking or is there actually a confrimed difference from the original wireless controller, and if so why?

                            TIA

The D-pad is the worst thing about the 360 controller, which is a shame because I really like it other than that.
