Stepdown Converter Question

I'm just about to get my fourth Sega Saturn (thanks to fellow forum member Yakumo) and I want to be sure that my stepdown converter will work with it.

I've used this stepdown previously with a PC Engine Super CD-ROM2 unit. It's marked as an 'AC/DC Converter' and has an input of 230 and an output of 110. i'm guessing it's fine, but just wanted to check before plugging it in!

How many watts is your stepdown Duddy? Iirc 50w is enough for a jp Saturn.

I used to have an excellent converter that I got with my Japanese Dreamcast - that worked a treat with the Saturn - but I sold it.

However, surely if the wattage is less than required, it won't 'blow up' the machine, will it?

Can anyone else shed any light on this?

You want the wattage of the stepdown to be GREATER than whatever it says on the bottom of your saturn, otherwise the psu in the saturn will blow up trying to draw enough current.

Can anyone check for me what wattage the Saturn requires? It's still not arrived yet you see, and I wanna have the stepdown ready for when it does.

Erm, it says 12W on the back of my Japanese White Saturn Seriously.

Looks like I may be alright...

This guy lists a 45W stepdown as being compatitible with the Saturn (scroll down the page). I'm guessing he must have tested it.

I have just checked Japanese White & Grey Saturns : 12W and UK PAL Black Saturn : 20W

WTF? Why does the UK/European Saturn use 66% more power than the Japanese ones?

Ah I see you're buyinf from Rob he's a good lad and can confirm that his stepdowns do indeed work on Jap Saturns, as had one at home a while back. Enjoy the new machine!
