Xbox Live: Am I Banned?

Tonight I have been getting the "Xbox Live not Found" message when ever I try and connect. My Xbox is chipped but I was playing Live last night and I have not had the machine switched on since then and the on/off switch for the chip has not been changed. The Xbox picks up on all of its networking settings but just refuses to connect to the live system.

What does it say when you're banned? Does it actually say you've been banned?
