    pc to tv display problem

Use one of those pc to tv leads to watch videos.

For some reason the video picture no longer displays on the tv.

The general computer screen displays on the tv perfectly, but when I use something like media player, it just shows the video as a blurry coloured box.

Looks fine on the computer, but not on the tv....any ideas?

Not sure to be honest but it could be the graphics drivers need updating. Which OS are you using? I have read that Vista has some driver issues with outputting to a second monitor or TV, as i got a new laptop at the weekend and tried to connect it to my TV via a DVI-HDMI lead and it doesn't work at all. When the TV is on the laptop doesn't recognise it and when its off it does, so you see the fun i'm having with it. I have a geforce in mine and apparently they need to resolve some issues with the drivers for dual monitors.

Another thing is that Vista has some issues with protected content, one of the guys here has a HD drive in his laptop and can't watch a movie on more than one screen at a time.

      Thanks for the reply.

Still using XP, and drivers are up to date.

Have just discovered I've lost my display options (when using Fn + F5) with the exception of LCD/TV....perhaps that's got something to do with it?

Is the box pink or purple?

If so, you don't have your graphics card set up to send full-screen video to your TV.

If you set the "full screen display" to your TV, when you start something like media player, it should replace the desktop image on your TV with whatever should be inside that pink or purple box. When the playback is over, you'll see the desktop on the TV again.

Unfortunately I have no clue how to do this in the current nVidia drivers and even less clue if you're using an ati card - I just went into the control panel to see if I could sort it out for you and it's completely different from the versions I remember.

But that's what you need to do, anyway. Check the help for stuff like "full screen display" or "video overlay" and you should find the answer.

          That's the one!

Thanks for that, will try and have a look for the full screen option.

Still missing the Fn + F5 display options though.

Have updated the display drivers and this hasn't helped.

          Any ideas?
