Wiimote damaged - curse you, Wii Sports!

I managed to grab a Wii last friday, enjoying it tons over the week. Was playing Wii Sports however earlier today and I wound up swinging for a ball in Tennis, attacking my desk instead and chipping a fairly visible chunk out of the Wiimote. It still works, but dammit, i'm unhappy. Seeing as I've only had the thing for 4 days, is there anything I can do?

    This is embarrasing...

use small movements in future, theres no need to jump around as if you're on fire.

    apart from that.. no!

It's the placement of my room more than anything. I have a computer desk right next to my TV, and I just need to swivel my chair to the right to play consoles or whatever. The desk is pretty close and kind of easily hittable. Time for a total overhaul of my room I think.

Well, called customer service, they fobbed me off and made me look in the manual, where the guarantee explicitly states it doesn't cover accidental damage. ****.

?40 for a new remote then. **** you Nintendo.

          **** you Nintendo.
To be fair, it's hardly Nintendo's fault that you cracked the remote off your desk, is it?
I flung my remote at a friends telly. Thankfully it was ye olde heavy glass-screen variety, and it just deflected off.
I'm more annoyed at Nintendo for the lack of rechargeable battery pack on the remote. I've had a machine since xmas, and have played it for under 12 hours in total, yet have changed the batteries four times cos they seem to keep running down while it's not in use ... one set even leaked, spewing brown stuff all over the insides of the casing ... fortunately it still works.

I know, i'm just stressed out. Only thing I can think of is sending it in anyway, maybe they'll make me pay to get it repaired but significantly less than a new Wiimote. Still a little annoyed, and can understand how so many have put them through TVs and such. It isn't their fault, just not everyone has the room to swing Wiimotes like baseball bats without knocking ornaments off shelves etc.

I'll see what I can do.

Couldn't you glue the piece back on, then trade the remote in at game or somewhere. Then just put the difference towards a new one?
I mean if it's not chipped too badly.
              Or you could ebay it...

              Or whatever.

I wouldn't hold out much hope that sending it back to Nintendo will help, if anything it would probably worsen the situation - they don't seem to give two ****s about what happens to stuff they get sent.

Any photos of the damage ?
                  Depending how it is damaged,
get some superglue and one of those silicon sleeve.

That's right. Been a couple of times in a Nintendo office a couple of blocks from where I used to work to get me a replacement console. They had like these two huge containers holding everything from NES carts to gamecubes etc, ready to be sent of to Germany for repair.
Ah, how I wish they had a repair centre next door, then I could work at nintendo...

Did they even have to do any console replacements before the Wii and DS Lite, then?

                          Yep, GC's under warranty
I'd guess anything else had to be paid for.

A little excessive to import a standard controller, no? Play.com have them for £29.99 delivered dude.

                              EDIT:

**** Nintendo? You broke it. You can hardly blame them for not covering people for breaking the stuff themselves, they'd have to be giving away free merchandise half the time.
