    Quicktime/WMP file associations

I upgraded iTunes and it's fecked around with my movie settings. When I click on an mpeg file online now, it sits loading the whole thing before eventually playing it in a QT player in the middle of a browser page. Pox. What it should do, which is what it did before, is start playing immediately in Windows Media Player. But it doesn't.

I went into the Quicktime preferences and disabled mpeg as a file type there and made sure, in the WMP settings, that it was set to the default player for mpeg types and yet it's still doing this.

Anyone know how to fix it? It's XP by the way.

You could try right clicking the files and going to "open with...choose program"
iirc, you can set the default thing there.
try that and if it doesn't work just download a better player than WMP! I'd recommend BSPlayer or Zoomplayer.

Yeah, I tried the 'Open with' thing and it totally does it for things that I've got sitting on my compter but anything on a website will automatically go with Quicktime.

That is set up through your browser then. I believe it is either set up through default programs or "MIME" types. What browser?
I'd still recommend a different pleyer though! WMP is pretty sluggish really and does use a lot of stuff which it shouldn't.

          It's Internet Explorer 6.

I don't use IE6 so booted it up to look at options. Cannot find anything obvious. I guess it is in manage add-ons but I stay away from IE if I can help it too!

To sum up my advice: use opera and zoomplayer instead! Probably not much help to you tbh, sorry mate. Best of luck with it
