    Console flight games

I've got a mate who loves anything to do with aircraft. But he's never been big on games. He's aware that there are flight sims kicking about for the PC but is concerned his aging PC is abit too naff to run them. He has, however picked up a PS2 recently. So my question is does anyone know of any flight sim type games (military or commercial aircraft) for the PS2 that have been released in PAL land?

The only games I can think of are the Ace Combat series. But since I've never played any of them I have no idea what they're like gameplay wise. Is there anything else out there?

Sky Odyssey on PS2 is very good. It might not fulfil the criteria your mate is after, but if he's after the PS2 equivalent of Pilotwings, then it's worth checking out. 60hz mode, too.

Energy Airforce aimStrike on the PS2 is probably the one to go for. I had the original Energy Airforce game for a while and it was pretty good with the emphasis on realism unlike the Ace Combat series. Nowhere near as much fun of course.

Cheers for the suggestions guys. Sky Oddessy rings a bell, he did actually mention that he's played Pilot Wings so he may be interested in that.

I think it's the realism side that he's more interested in, so it may be worth a look.

If anyone thinks of anything else, the more the merrier
