    Wii power supply issue..

I got a Wii from America last week and just brought it back to England and used an adaptor to plug it in, this adaptor did not change the voltage in any way was just a simple USA to UK... as soon as a plugged it in it basically blew up...could smell it burning..obviously i was stupid not to get something that changed the voltage as the power supply couldnt handle our current i guess..

anyway, is there a chance the machine was damaged or as usual is this just a way for the machine to be protected as the electricity in the house went off, i take that as a way for the machine to be protected from the power supply issue..

Also, i have ordered a universal power supply for the Wii that has a UK plug, will this work on my NTSC Wii?

that is what i ordered, i do not see why it wont work but i thought you guys would know

Yes, that adapter will do (if it's not made in China ).

Is the adapter that blew up the only smelly part, or does the console itself reek of burnt stuff too?

The console should be fine, I've accidently done this myself a few times (not on a Wii, admittedly) and only the PSU has ever died.

The one off ebay seems okay...i dont think i need the official one?

The Wii did not smell like it was burning neither was it hot, when i plugged it in the light came on for a sec then the PSU blew and the electricity turned off.. i then plugged just the PSU into the wall and it literally blew up basically. i could see the sparks lol

I just want to make sure the Wii wont be damanged, i dont see how it could be, isnt the turning off of electricity a safeguard against damage?

Your Wii should be fine, the power supply would of protected it.

i ordered the EXACT same one off amazon for ?7.99 and it works a charm - only difference is that the plug into the wii is gray, not black (or visa versa)
