Why cant I get any sound when viewing clips on youtube?

I can watch videos/clips just fine but I'm not getting any sound eevn though the vol level on the bottom is up to full.

Any ideas ppl?

I had this before but it was a while ago and my memory is bad, have you installed a codec pack recently? If so it may this may help:

I've had this before. It turned out that QT or Real Player's volume control had over-ridden the vol control of my PC and I had muted it. When I put the sound back up on one of those aps, all was well.
