    ps2 pad on ps3 question

Please bear with me guys, im trying to think how best to word this. You know those gadgets that lets you use a ps2 pad on a ps3 via that usb cable. well, is that region free? I went into Game today and they said its not out in this country. I also wanna know that if it is region free, then could I use that gadget with a ps2 multi tap and attach 4 ps2 pads via that gadget for pro evo multiplayer madness? Thanks in advance for the help.

It's just a lead so you don't need to worry about regional lockout. These adapters will work on any PS3.

Sony haven't released an official adapter but you can buy 3rd party one from ebay (try searching for 'ps2 usb ps3') or import from somewhere like VG+:

Not sure if you can use a multitap or not though....

I don't think the multitap is compatible, so you'll probably have to buy four USB adapters if you want some multiplayer Pro Evo.

I've got a usb port but I can't get the ps2 controller working. I thought you just plugged it in? Do you need to set it up or something first like with the sony remote?

two sixaxis' and two usb adaptors with ps2 pads attached?

I use this setup to play four player virtua tennis often , works fine.

              I've just bought this one

It works perfectly, except the vibration: none in Rez, some in VF4, way too much in GT4. At least, it works with the PS2 IR receiver, so I can control playback with my Harmony remote.

Back to square one, then. I need an adapter fully compatible with vibration. Is the Videogameplus one up to the task?

Hmm it works on the front end menu (although circle is used instead of X) but not when a game loads up...

Is it just an official PS2 pad you're using? I think some 3rd party pads/ sticks can have compatability probs.

The only PS2 game I've tried with the VG+ adapter (on a US PS3) is We Love Katamari and the vibration seemed fine.

If you have a PAL PS3 I guess another possible cause might be that the games are being played under emulation?

Yep, pal ps3, perhaps you're right and it's an emulation problem. I'll get the VG+ one, if that fails, I'll wait for the release of the new sisaxis, assuming that Sony don't **** it by making the rumble PS3 only.

I assumed he was talking about only using PS2 controllers. Of course, PS3 controllers can be used alongside PS2 ones in games.

Same results with the VG+ one, sadly. Any US/Jap PS3 owner with an adapter, can you confirm it passes the weak/strong vibration test in PS1 Metal Gear?
