external dvd writer question..?

Will an external DVD writer have the dvd region code lockout?

I did a search and couldn't find anything so apologies if i'm asking for the obvious?

While reading video DVDs, yes, all drives come with region lockout. When writing new video DVDs you can select whatever region you want, however.

Give DVD Region+CSS Free a go - have it running on my HTPC and works with everything, its a one time install and then just forget about it, link below gives you a 60 day trial.

Yeah, I use that program, works nicely.

Obviously try Googling your drive's model number and "region" or "RPC1" (RPC1 refers to region free). I have a LiteOn drive in my PC and was able to find a program that removed the lockout from the hardware.
