lmfao, nice one snow! Dreamcast = 0wned

Thanks for the tut halfy, I was gonna try painting my Xbox but decided it would be to big of a risk if I messed up so I'll try painting my DC first and see how that goes, any guides on how to add leds and stuff?

Here's a suggestion instead of that travesty above (Dreambrick ) why not a Xbox made to look like a Dreamcast? 8)

I actually have just done mine today, took a little longer than expected though due to be being a complete newbie to taking stuff apart

Will get pics tomorrow.. but my colour scheme is a metallic blue main part, with the metallic purple (exactly the same as halfs) on the modem, open/power button, and the little bit on the centre.

It looks wicked and I'm quite proud of myself, also did the controller to match!

Will get another one done later in the week! The Metallic paint is great!

I am in a video gaming slump at the mo' and I only hope that when I get some money, Vietiful, F-zero and Advance Wars 2 can pull me out. I don't really play my DC much but I am very bored, so I think I might spray the beast. Nice idea half-pint.

I took mine apart today and made a little discovery. I take it that yours was a later model when Sega decided to take the water cooling system out, or just not a Japanese one. On my model (an early Japanese one) the water cooling system is attached to the fan which in turn is attached to the controller ports. It just makes it a bit harder to get the whole thing out. Just thought I'd say.

I have an asian version of the 1st batch of Dreamcasts with the strange cooling system.

Look under the lid - the molding version on mine is 01-01-001.

I'm almost certain it isn't water cooled though, I think those are just heat transmitting metal rods. There isn't anything to pump liquid around with for a start.

The water cooling myth seems to have been perpetrated by Edge, who guessed wrongly when they first saw some pictures of the Dreamcast's innards.

Probably quite true. I was a bit miffed as to how it worked to but just sighed and put it together. I don't think I am patient enough to wait a couple of days for the paint to dry, I just enjoyed opening my DC up.

They'll be heatpipes, i think, so technically, it is liquid-cooling, but not quite the same as a traditional pump-and-radiator watercooling system.

I've been thinking about doing this meself, since i've got a spare (dead) dc lying around gathering dust... </ontopic>

Does this actually make a difference? The cooling system that is? i mean i remember edge battling on about the machine have to cool off. Due to dangers of over heating. I have one of these said machines and have never encountered such a problem but why such a strange method when a decent fan can do the same thing?
