clrmame the rom manager is a useful tool, there is also a MAME32 homepage with a forum attached and a very useful site called Pleasuredome that can help with all kinds of MAME related content.

it can be a little daunting and fiddly to get a sweet MAME set-up but once you do its quite low maintenance and well worth it.

for those with the virtua stick ( if its the ps3 one im guessing ?) there are sixaxis drivers that work with pc via usb and these allow me to use my hori fighting stick3 in mame so i dont see the other ps3 stick as being any different.

if anyone needs the drivers, just ask

remember tho to hit the tab key on the keyboard once in mame to adjust buttons

Just got a modded xbox and i am looking to get mame on it.Getting a crossover cable in the next few days so need some advice on what version of mame to put on the xbox and what part of the d/l file do you ftp to the xbox.Tried reading some guides but they have only confused me more.
Get Mamedox mate, final build was v1.0
It has a flicker filter and a decent compatibility rate. That said certain games; Smash TV springs to mind, run better on MameoX.
For neo-geo/CPS games use FinalBurnXXX for high-def supports, configurabilty etc.
            enjoy.

I could never get Mamedox to work properly - no matter how much I tweaked it and deleted previously failed installs it would lock up when trying to load a ROM. I use a mix of MAMEoX128plus and FBAXXX now, although getting FBA to work properly was a pain too.

Actually, thinking about it, FBAXXX was a right bastard and demanded I update practically every neo romset I had. For ease of use, although it's nowhere near as good (though still perfectly functional) you can use Kawa-X for CPS1/2/Neo stuff, although it doesn't support as much it's usable pretty much straight out the box, unlike FBAXXX.
