Ikaruga (J.) on US cube

I'm looking at a copy of the Japanese Ikaruga (GC) ...

Any worries with running it on a US cube via Freeloader ?

According to me it also works fine.

However, as with some other JPN games you will get some garbled japanese text - i.e the Japanese text in the game (at the bottom of the screen detailing what menu items mean - since they are in english) is garbled and not true Japanese characters.

Unless you are planning to read the Japanese this is not a problem.

No you cant, but they do not appear during the game.

They just appear when selected from a menu (the main menu etc).

There is some Japanese text which appears during the game such as when bosses appear, but it is just the boss name (I believe) in Japanese text and there is english text around it.

Really there is no Japanese text problem at all with Ikaruga - even less so than with Viewtiful Joe really.
