Toshiba TV and subwoofer help please

I've just got a Toshiba SW1000 (subwoofer) for my 32WLT66. It clips to the back of said tv, and then plugs into the L/MONO socket on the back of the tv. However, I have been using the RIGHT and L/MONO sockets for connecting the tv to my amp and now cannot Well I can if I don't use the sub, but that's not really an option! And I can't just have the surround sound only appearing on the r/h side!

So if I was to use one of these (or maybe one of these, but probably the former as the sub only has a single mono connection through the L/MONO socket), would that work ok? Would the sound still go through to the sub and also connect to the amp and all be fine and dandy.

I hope this makes sense and I would be grateful for any help as this is doing my head right in!

    Cheers

    Dan

does your Amp not have a sub output?

didn't seem to work when I tried using it (?) - but I think the sub has to plug into the tv or there's no way for it to receive the signal properly. Any ideas if that 1st cable would work as suggested above?

      Cheers

Your amp should have an option to turn on/off the subwoofer output (i know my one does), maybe thats why its not outputting?

The sub will work with any TV or sub (I've got the same one) maybe you are doing something wrong

Does the telly not have a dedicated sub out connection? I'm sure my 32WL48 does...

No, well sort of, but it is shared with the L/MONO socket so it's one or the other (sub or surround) at the mo

I know that and yes it is possible that I have done something wrong! I did try connecting it to the pre-out subwoofer socket on my Onkyo amp. The volume on the sub was about 1/2 way and then I tried turning up the sub via the amp but all I got was a very faint sound coming from the sub. As you know Boris, the mono lead that is supplied with the SW1000 is very short and so I could only try connecting the sub to the amp while the sub was on the floor so maybe I knocked a connection or something. It was late and I was tired. I might get a longer mono lead. But it would be really helpful if someone could just say if this would work/help or not, thanks

And Hasan, I don't know if there is an option to turn the sub on or off but I will have a look.

Thanks for your input guys, it is appreciated.

              Dan

Cheers, I thought it probably would work, but it's always nice to have confirmation from another party before buying

By the way, I like your avatar and the little line above - reminds me of my ebay name!

Hold it right there... It says it's an "active" sub.
Therefore it needs a power supply. Is it plugged in?
Is there a volume dial on the sub?

Phone me tonight if you are still having troubles.

Yes it is active, yes it is plugged in, yes there is a volume dial (turned to about halfway)

Hopefully that little lead will sort it out - Maplins sell them so I'm going there at lunchtime to see if they have one in stock. Will call you if it all goes a bit Pete Tong

                        Cheers Charles

But..... it should work from your amp. Still, if a £2 cable fixes it and you are happy then aces.

That little lead made everything hunky-dory

                            Cheers for all the advice
