Which dance game and mat for the xbox

Now that i have a modded xbox looking to get a dance game and mat for my 6 year old girl.

Seems that dance revolution is well liked but i have never had any of these on any console so all advice on the game and what mat to go for since it will no doubt be well abused.What sort of price for the game and mat as well.


On a seperate note do any of the arcade dance games work on mame and if so do the xbox mats work with them.

If you've got it modded, Stepmania is a free public-domain dance game, with loads of songs available for download. Couple of bugs, and in need of some updating, but damn good for nowt.

You'd really be much better off with a PS1 or PS2.
It is not often I say this but in the DDR area Playstation rules.

Got enough machines under the tv so will have to stick with the xbox.Thankfully my little girl is fairly easy to please so will be happy with the best xbox version.

Yeah, it worked with the first dance mat I found ... most dance mats just mimic standard controller actions.

"Stepmania X" (to give it it's full correct title) is a port of a PC dance game, and you can pretty much download and import all the songs and timings that the PC users have created, if you know what you're doing.

A couple of the tracks I downloaded didn't work quite right ... it would get to the end of the song, and not finish, so you wouldn't get a grade, but other than than, really nice polished bit of software ... it's just too bad the guy who ported it over didn't keep up the maintenance on it.
