    Flicker Filter in Wii RE4

I noticed the pretty bad blurryness in the game and saw somebody writing about a flicker filter causing it. I'm just wondering what's it for, what it does and how does it do it? What's the flicker that it's filtering?

techically the game looks a mess (colours/definition), no matter what version you play (GC&ps2 was exactly the same)

*i think this blur filter is suppost to give it, a gritter, darker feel*

I thought it was used to hide jaggies?

I am unconvinced RE4 uses flicker filter, as it's very different to the type of blurring in Sonic & the Secret Rings, Trauma Center, CoD3 etc.

It's mainly for CRT's and messes things up real bad for LCD's. Very few games let you disable it (FF12 is one such game).

As Shakey_Jake says, people debate whether or not the blurriness is the result of a Flicker Filter or if it's some "fake widescreen" trick (that is, the stretching being done inside the Wii rather than requiring the user to do it on their TV set). Hell, it's so blurry, it could be both.

Flicker Filtering is designed to stop fine details jittering up and down on an Interlaced CRT TV set, simply by blurring the finest details out of the picture. But over the last few years people have been using it for other uses, seemingly to try and hide jaggies without using any processing power.
