    PS3 HDMI display problems

    Hi,

Just got a ps3, however if I try and select 1080i or 720p output over the hdmi lead it wont display a picture, it comes through sometimes if I wiggle the connection in the back of the TV, then i'll get static and then the tv will say display mode not supported.

This is the first time I've used HDMI on my TV, 1080i comes through perfect from the 360. Does this sound like a dodgy lead, 480p works fine, or an issue with the TV set? Its a samsung LE26R41.

    Thanks

Any idea if the TV supports HDCP? I think some of the older ones don't so they won't play ball with the ps3 or other HD sources that require it. You can get this kind of device to 'add' HDCP to your telly though:

I had that same TV (well, the 32" version) and it didn't work on mine either. Think there were a few more on here with the same issue too.

have you tried holding the power button in untill it beeps twice then letting go?

this resets the display and then the PS3 picks the correct display for you.

NecronomiconUK told me about this and it worked a treat on my samsung le32r41B

Tried that and it displays a 1080i picture, but it has red lines through it, the speakers crackle, and then it flashes to static sometimes too.

Will there be any major loss of quality if I switch to component? Bit cheaper than that VGA converter!

          Thanks everyone
