    X-Box Component and DD

Is there a cable that allows you to use Dolby Digital as well as use the component outputs for the XB?

AFAIK you can't do this with the official component lead.

If you are reffering to the "official" US HDTV pack then yes it has a optical output for DD/DTS, but their isn't an official pal version.
The only cable i have seen over here that offers Component video is one by Gamester, it also includes the optical output needed for DD/DTS.
It also has a s-video output on it, its ?25 but was in the Game sale for ?15.

Why did microsoft in their wisdom not include a optical output as standard ???

Cheers for that...official pack it is. Very annoying that they didn't just have an optical output as standard...a way of gaining a few extra $.

Indeed, the only niggle with the US official HDTV pack is it doesn't include an optical cable, something the Gamester has included so is better value.

Have you tried the Gamester one? Can you recommend it?

No i haven't sorry, i did have the US HDTV pack which i cannot recommend unless your going to be using Prog Scan.
For some reason the interlaced component image wasn't as good as the RGB scart cable i also had. The problem is although the Advanced RGB cable offers a very good image it tends to be very dark on certain games.
Although this in part can be blamed on the apparent dark nature to the Nvida chipset inside the xbox.
I am in a dilemma myself as i purchased a new pal xbox yesterday and cannot decide what cable to purchase.
            I'm going to the states on Sunday(Las Vegas,San Fransisco 8) ) so i'm going to see what i can pickup while over there(K O T O R for certain)
