Getting Broadband within London

Hello, I'm tempted with getting Broadband for faster internet and the ability to play online with my xbox.

I live in the london area, does anyone know what the better broadband companies to go with are (we don't have cableTV).

Pipex, Eclipse and Nildram are generally speaking the ones people will always recommend. They are the best ISPs around i suppose, i use Eclipse and i have never had a problem with them, in fact the service has been excellent.

Are you sure you're not within Telewest coverage? I thought I wasn't until I probed a little further.

I used to be with BT Openworld and wasn't particularly impressed. The customer service/helpline especially was a joke. I have to say I am very impressed with Telewest...I went for the 1MB line and it really flies! One of the positives is you can upgrade (up to 2MB) by just clicking on a link and it takes a couple of hours.

It seems the contention ratios are so much lower via cable than adsl also.
