    play-asia question?

Just a tad new to this importing scene online as i have just got myself a credit card (oh dear...) ordered f-zero gx from them and was told today it was shipped so thats cool but now i have a nice limit on my card and want to buy myself a Panasonic Q only thing that is in my mind is import tax and stuff, has anyone ordered a console from them OR even a Q itself??
    Thanks.

You'll get hit for import tax 99% guaranteed.

Smaller items are OK, but there is no way you are getting a console through.

You will probably have better luck going with yesasia (if they sell the Q that is) as I hear you dont get stung for import tax as they repackage all the items when they get to the UK.

Do a search for PS2's on here and a thread started by Wazy15 as that mentions something about yesasia and no import duty.

EDIT: here is the link http://ntsc-uk.domino.org/viewtopic....&highlight=ps2

          Mate.

As soon as you order your Q, email play-asia and they will mark the package down for you.

          Hey presto.. no import duty

Yesasia sold out of Qubes ages ago.

Let us know how you get on with Playasia.

All I will say is that I ordered some 3rd party maracas a couple of weeks ago - value ?15 which is below the Customs guidelines for taxing imports and I got hit even though it was marked as US$24 on the label.

Do Play Asia and Yes Asia package their smaller items like games in boxes or bubble envelopes?

You can specify how you want it packaged.

The cheapest is basically a jiffy bag, but a box can also be used for just ?1 (or therabouts) extra.

You can also specify if you want it sent registered or not.

Alternatively you can use a courier (although you are sure to be hit with a customs charge this way).

Slightly OT but... Make sure you get the Q with the Multiregion DVD mod and the US/Jap game switching on the power button.

The power switch dvd mod was the one they were selling on playasia, this is a little bit OT as well but are playasia alright tax/customs wise on games??
