PAL GC Games on US Wii

I've tried to run PAL RE2 on my US Wii today using Freeloader 1.06b, and got sound but no visual.

I am told there is an updated version of Freeloader for Wii, can someone confirm it fixes this little bug before I buy?

Also, can I buy an EU version for a US Wii, or does it have to be a US version?

Whilst the US Wii doesn't have any of the "old Freeloader version" blocking BIOS in it, you really need version 1.06B or later here, 1.06b won't cut it. I have 1.06B here and it works fine to boot my PAL/JPN Cube games on my US Wii.

This definately works then for this problem? Not trying to doubt you, just wanting to be sure before I order, as I only really want it to play the RE games!
Just to note, my AR displays the same problem, dunno which Freeloader revision this is based on.

Obviously RE2/3 are 50Hz only, but I remember Freeloader automatically forcing them into 60Hz, which means I don't feel any urge to rebuy them as NTSC.

Does a PAL Freeloader work on a US machine?

The original Freeloader discs from the Cube time are region free.

I've got both 1.06b and 1.06B Freeloader versions here and there's many things "b" doesn't work properly with whilst everything I've chucked at "B" works fine.

This only really applies trying to play PAL stuff on an NTSC machine. Freeloader was designed mainly to play NTSC on a PAL machine, and for that functionality, the "b" version does almost everything okay. "B" is what you need for us mostly import dudes doing the odd PAL game buying heh...

Excellent stuff, thanks! I usually rebuy games in NTSC, but the RE games are quite expensive for what they are, so I don;t really fancy it! UK Freeloader is only 9 quid though!

Dammit I just ordered a PAL one and it says 'For use on EU Console' on the front Looks like I'll have to sell this on the forum.

Not really now, RE2, RE3 and RECVX have had at least one reprint in the US... you can probably find them $20 or so. Almost all the others have been released in Player's Choice.

I'll rephrase - I don't wanna buy RE2/3/CV yet again Besides, Freeloader forces 60Hz, or it did on my GC.

I cannot cancel my Amazon order, so I'll let people know if the (new version) PAL Freeloader works on US machines.

I hope that wasn't my fault, Shakey_Jake33. I was pointing it out for wod as he is getting a PAL system and wants to run NTSC GC games on it.

No no I ordered it before you posted! But my PAL 1.06b Freeloader and AR work on my US machine, so I can't imagine they region locked the new release o.o

I didn't even know about the b button thing. >_< I was trying for my PAL Resi 2 on it a few weeks back.

This thread has saved me a few quid. Cheers!

Whatever holding B is meant to do, it doesn't work here :P
