    Nintendo famicom.

Thinking of buying a famicom, only ever owned a nes, only Japanese famicom games i've played are the famicom minis!

Ok..i've read a couple of topics, i understand i can use the console with a megadrive power supply (MD1)

Just wondering what picture i can get..is it just standard RF/composite or can it some how RGB?

    Thanks.

Depends on what version of the famicom you get.

If its the original white & red version then it will only output RF & no other signal at all. But they can be modded to output av composite. You can also rgb mod an original famicom but the mod is very tricky & requires a chip from a playchoice 10 arcade board.

The easier option is buying the later av famicom as that outputs av composite as standard, im not sure if they can be rgb modded.

You can get RGB if you are fluent in reading and understanding Japanese.. WITHOUT Playchoice-10 PPU I believe.. I found a site which shows many diagrams and descriptions for obtaining RGB from the original Famicom.. I know no Japanese.

BTW, I am getting a Famicom Titler sometime in the future.. and it has RGB built in which just needs to be tapped.. hurrah!

The one I am getting is supposedly "dead" etc but im hoping its an easy problem, and if its not then maybe I can transplant the chip into a European NES or something.. I hear its the same as the Playchoice-10 one.
