I've been using Eudora for a lot of years but while searching for its latest version months ago (despite its age I was still hooked to the old 5.0) and discovered that Eudora would be discontinued as it is now but future versions will use the Thunderbird core.
Oh well, let's download Thunderbird then.
Works like a charm, except for sending e-mails with my Tiscali account.
I've set up two accounts: Gmail (works perfectly) and Tiscali: with Tiscali I can only recieve mail but when I try to send any mail I get an SMTP server connection error; I click "send", Thunderbird connects to the Tiscali SMTP server, asks for the password and then I recieve this message:
"Sending of message failed. The message could not be sent because connecting to SMTP server smtp.tiscali.it failed. The server may be unavailable or is refusing SMTP connections. Please verify your SMTP setting and bla bla bla"
Double checked the SMTP connection, all parameters are fine. Went to Tiscali website to see any possible detail from TSL or ports used. Tried to send a message with Eudora and it works. Confronted the settings between the two programs and everything's OK. Checked the firewall software (Outpost) and put Thunderbird in the "always trusted" applications (by default it would be "partially trusted"). Checked the IP table on my router...everything's open and I don't know what to do.
Help?
