New headphones - Goldring DR50 any good?

I always need new gear and at the moment its headphones. Not looking to pay to much tbh, and the DR50's seem a good bargain buy at ?30 odd. Any impressions? - and is there much between the higher end models - DR100 and DR150 - and the DR50's?

What Hi-Fi have given them a five star, but they seem to give out five stars left, right and centre. Impressions would be a great help here. Feel free to make other recommendations, but bear in mind that my budget caps at about ?50.

    Cheers!

I've not used those specific ones, but I can highly recommend scouring the excellent head-fi.org.

I had the previous version of these: http://www.audiocubes.com/product/So...eadphones.html (these were my old ones) which should come under £50 delivered, and I thought they were excellent for the price.

It's been a while since I investigated, but I seem to recall that the cheapest Grado ones (SR50?) or the AKG ones (DJ31? or something...) are meant to be the best ones for around that price.

For what it's worth, my current portable headphones are the Koss KSC-50s, which are seriously fantastic for the size and price.

Just joined up at Head-Fi actually, and it seems like a excellent site. Possibly looking into IEM's now, i'll never get anywhere at this rate!

But, yeah, I might try the Grado SR60 or 80 as you suggest, although both are a bit above £50.

Just had a look at the Koss pair. They are cheap! Do they really give a decent quality sound?

The sound is pretty good, especially for the size/price. They aren't up there with a £40 pair of closed back headphones, let alone some Grados or something, but the difference isn't dramatic.
But they're just pads over your ears, so they don't offer any sort of seperation from external noise. I don't listen to my music that loudly, so in London it can be rather bothersome, with it getting drowned out easily.
Having said that, they're easily the best portable headphones I've used, bar the significantly bulkier and debatably portable Sony D66SLs.

Also, Grado SR-60s are a bloody rip off here!
        £75? You're having a laugh! They're under $70 in the US! http://www.headphone.com/guide/by-ap...rado-sr-60.php

When i've got a bit of spare cash i'll be ordering some stuff from the states, a iMod, portable amp etc so i'll probably pick up a pair of Grado's then or might go for some Shure IEM's - Head-fi is going to cost me a lot I know it! Cheers for letting me know though, I didn't realise they were so much cheaper in the states.
