What's the best PS2 lightgun game?

I've got an unexpected craving for some lightgun action all of a sudden despite barely playing one before. Does any one game stand head and shoulders above the rest?

the original time crisis, the rest are crap.

      That's a bit sweeping.

Vampire Night is average, but quite a laugh in 2P (and not an expensive struggle, as you can use the GCon 1 with it).

Or what about Virtua Cop Rebirth?

      Far from bad games.

Time Crisis 3 is getting released in Japan soon and if it is anything like the arcade version it will be an essential purchase.

For multiplayer action and fun the Gunvari Collection is good.

They may be PSone ports but the Gun Bullet games are brilliant.

Yeah, Gunvari Collection is quite nice (but ignore Time Crisis, great for PSone, now looks a bit toss) but the other games are nice.

TC2 (and soon TC3) is great but to get the full 2P experience you need iLink.

If you liked Time Crisis 2 in the arcade then you can't go wrong, it's a pretty flawless conversion IMO. Also works with the GCon1 too.

                    Cheers all,
I reckon Time Crisis 2 will making an appearance on my screen soon.

C' your post slightly confused me because I am also about to pick up a couple of guns and a few light gun games to play on the PS2.

I assumed I would just be able to play 2-player with these games (Ninja Assault/Vampire Night/Time Crisis 2) by having two guns and no extra equipment.

Am I right in thinking this?

You can play them all as 2P on one screen, but Time Crisis 2 (and soon 3) are better using the iLink (presumably cos TC 2 has split screen for 2P, as each player ducks at different times).

If memory serves, though, TC2 does support 16x9 TVs though, so you don't lose as much screen area playing side-by-side as you'd think.

What he said basically. 2P Time Crisis requires each player to have their own screen. The home version offers an option to split the screen vertically with player 1's view on the left and player 2's view on the right. However, in order to retain the correct aspect ratio with this split there are massive borders top and bottom of the screen, making each player's display incredibly small, and thus rendering the mode slightly crappy.

However, if you play via iLink each player has full screen and the game becomes playable.

Endgame is meant to be reasonable enough. It's a Time Crisis style game. I see it going cheap pretty often.
