    Mini-Disc Player .. help needed!

    Hi everyone!!

Hopefully someone can help me with this problem regarding my MiniDisc Walkman. I bought it; the Sony Net MD Walkman MZ-N10 about 4 years ago now but not too long after I bought it I went to the iPod and never looked back since. Anyway, I lost track of where my MD player was, and now that I've just recently found it, there are a few songs on there that I'm now desperate to somehow transfer back to my computer and then hopefully onto my iPod.

The good news is I found the MD Player USB cable to link it with my Computer and found the SonicStage software so I can view all my songs from my MD player on the computer, but I'm getting errors when I try and trnsfer the songs from the MD player to the "Music Drive", as its called on SonicStage, which i assume is reffering to my computer. I couldn't seem to select what folder or location on my PC where i want the songs transferred to. Then after a bit more clicking away, I found it says I can only "Check-In" (or transfer) songs from my MD player to my ORIGINAL PC. I can only assume that is the problem then, as I have changed PC since I last used my MDplayer and its software, and no longer have the old PC!!!

Can anyone help me get around thiss to JUST SIMPLY transfer a few songs from my MD Player to my hard drive? Like I said i do have the USB cabkle and software so im halfway there! Or is there any 3rd party software that could recognise any MD player and do the job for me?

I would buy the songs again, theres only 2 i want, but they are both rare and bonus type tracks that I can't find anywhere over the internet or on iTunes. I originally got it from Napster 4 years ago when it was really popular, everything was free before it closed down.

Any sugegestions wouold be grately appreciated!!!

Can you not just use a jack to jack or jack to phono cable to record to your PC or other device?

You could try downloading the latest version of SonicStage which I believe is a little more lenient in regards to transferring tracks to and from MD players. Alternatively, using a 3.5 mm cable, connect the minidisc player directly to your soundcard and then, using a program like Creative Media Source Player, record the full contents of the minidisc to your hard drive at full bitrate.

Ah I see, play the music into the computer and use software able to record whats being played. That sounds nice and simple. Is this Creative Media Source Player expensive and/or free download or trial?

What are the songs? Would it not be easier to just buy them on iTunes, or elsewhere

I got the program included when I bought a Creative Sound Blaster Audigy sound card but imagine it can be downloaded free of charge. Alternatively, I'm sure there are a wealth of similar programs online that allow recording of external sources.
