PS3 Bluetooth headset - Temporary solution required!

Ok, looking at getting myself a headset for my PS3 gaming, prior to the retail launch of Warhawk. As such, it needs to work well enough but ideally I don't want to spend over ?10 as I'll most likely have no need for it by the end of the month.

Have come across this on amazon:

Based on the fact that it's logitech, is there much chance of it comparing well alongside the Socom headset?

Can anyone recommend any possible alternatives or is that likely going to be the best for the money?

Wow - mindreading or wot - I was about to start this exact thread.

I'm not waiting for Amazon though I want it today - It's absolutely horrific playing online on motorstorm etc and not being able to speak or abuse people when you smack them - Post LIVE it's like having a limb cut-off.

If I am being honest with you I would say just wait till Warhawk unless you have a Mobile phone bluetooth headset already

My youngest son lost my phone headset so I am going to wait till warhawk

I have one - Jabra BT25 or something - it won't even synch with my phones never mind the PS3. The other night I tried repeatedly and only next day did I realise I'd hammered the girl downstairs mobile phone repeatedly with dodgy passcodes ><

Yoshi's right though - online gaming is a shallow experience if you can't smacktalk

Not Bluetooth, but picked up Socom USB headset for £5 from Gamestation.
I was speaking with Rusty last night & the louder you talk the bigger/faster your icon gets - it's mental, I was trying to get him to shout to see how big it would go!

USB might be a cheap alternative as well, only problem is that a wired one probably wouldn't be much good to me as I sit a fair distance from the console (not too far away, but far enough so that I'm out of reach of the Sixaxis charge cable - damn you once again Sony for your lack of foresight).

No wires - Needs to be wireless.

I can't believe Sony didn't put out a PS3 branded headset that you could just buy & know would work - very stupid/strange.

This - THIS - I couldn't believe that cable when I saw it - Thankfully I got 2 pads so I'll need to keep them on rotation.

Even better(???) if you buy a sixaxis in the shops you get no charging cable in the box and without it you're unable to sync the pad to the console - you couldn't make it up - Sure, it's a standard USB to mini-USB but it's exactly for that reason I'd expect it to be in there.

Come on, somebody recommend a model number - Is JABRA-125 considered the de-facto ? It was the one Rusty mentioned I'm going to hunt it down this afternoon if so,.

JABRA tends to be pretty expensive, it retails for 30 notes+ If you're planning on buying the Warhawk retail package I wouldn't go for something like that.

It's so true.

I think I'm just gonna wait for the WarHawk headset because that way you're pretty sure it's going to work, as it's an official bundle.

Even some of the SONY Ericsson headsets don't work on the SONY PS3!

Edit:
Nice find.

Jabra BT125 can be had for about £15 via Amazon, even cheaper on ebay.
I bought the Socom USB headset, as a stop gap until purchasing Warhawk.

That forum thread is depressing - what a convoluted mess they've made of this.

1 headset, 1 setup - What was so hard about that ? Instead you've got threads like that where it even goes to an individual game level as to what works/doesn't.

Different headsets for different games is unacceptable.

I'll try and get that Jabra125 today - I literally would rather not play online than do it without chat it's totally isolating.
