Two 360's in same house with same gamertag

    Is this possible?

I wanna keep my 360 Premium in my bedroom and use the (soon to be purchased) Xbox 360 Elite in the living room.

I'm not wanting to use my gamertag at the same time but I do want to, every now and then, play on Xbox live SF in either the living room with the Xbox 360 Elite or on my 360 Premium in my bedroom (not when both 360's are on at the same time).

One friend reckons I can't do this... Or if I did, I need a memory card.

    Is this the case?

    i'm sure it'll be fine.

i'd assume you'd just do the account recovery on the other console and that's that

Buy a memory card and stick your gamertag on it then you can just plug it into whatever machine you wanna use. Or you could just swap hard drives all the time.

Recovering from live takes absolutely ages if you've got a lot of history on your gamertag.

I thought recovering your tag was a one time thing that screwed you over from doing it again?

I was planning to do something similar, and I believe all you need to do is have your Live details and whatever game you want to play on the memory card.

well i got a new live account when i got my 360 and recovered that on my xbox for playing sf anniversary and it was pretty straightforward, a few bits to enter and that was that.

i guess it's a choice between a little 'hassle' (inverted commas cos i don't see what the big deal is myself, especially if you use a usb keyboard) at the start doing the recovery, or constantly memcard-swapping between the two machines for the sake of streetfighter, and what'll happen is you'll run upstairs and get settled in bed with your doa stick (oo-er) and then realise the mem card's downstairs

mind you, mem card makes more sense once you start playing other games that actually do need a save file, in which case you'll end up buying a memory card anyway

Recovering is easy enough , although it can screw with your gamesaves.

Well, no one has disputed by thoery that you can only 'recover' your tag once? I would say that is a pretty big reason not to do it (if true) as if you legitimately need to recover your console after theft or damage, you couldn't.

You can recover your 'tag as many times as you need. I do it all the time when i pop round a mates house.

But you then have to re-recover it to use it on your original machine, as all copies of your gamertag dated before the recovery will stop working

                        Phili

Killbot regular comes over to mine for game nights, He has left his profile on my Machine and when he wants to use it he logs on and it recovers everything although it can sometimes take upto 10/15 minutes as it must transfer all your settings across.

So as long as your happy to wait a lil while for the details to migrate back and forth from the machines your sorted.

That sounds like a lot of hassle over using a memory card! Live accounts are designed to portable via the card. I used to use the same Live account on two different Xbox 1s like this.

That sounds like sooo much hassle!
All to either play SF2 on Xbox Live in my bedroom or watch HD-DVD in the comfort of my bed!
15 mins is awfully a long, long time!

Last time I recovered my tag on a mate's machine it took 35mins!
