Newsgroup file problem

downloaded some thing form newsgroup but for some reason has come down as a weird format

come down as dtv.xvid-river.7z.009

when they usually come down as r01 or 01.rar but if i change them then win rar says they is a error with them


any ideas welcome

That's 7zip format. If you can't get WinRAR to extract it due to it being split across multiple files (I don't know how well it copes with split .7z files since I rarely come across them), then try 7-zip instead.

I'm sure this happened to me before, and I just changed the filename extentions to .r01 instead of .001, etc and then extracted them and it work. Give it a go!
