    HDMI leads

Got a new ONN dvd player from Asda, says it does HDMI into TV's, I was just wondering about the cables, if any are worth avoiding and the general price of them etc.

also any info about the dvd player would be welcome too

Don't bother with things like Monster who want to charge you ?50 for a cable!!

As long as you're paying about ?12-?15 for one from a recognised brand you'll be getting exactly the same thing! I'd avoid anything less than those prices though! The cable will probably give you exactly the same picture but maynot stay in one piece for the next 12 months.

As above says really. With digital cables like HDMI, optical and the like, there won't be an actual increase in picture quality by buying a more expensive cable, because they're sending the same digital signal and just aren't prone to the same kind of loss (loss is possible in the form of interference etc, but that's different). More expensive ones may have better shielding, better build quality, work better over longer runs etc, but in the real world, a 10 quid cable or whatever is all you really need.

(This does not apply to analogue cables like Scart)

That said, using a DVD Player in a HDMI (non-upscaling at that) is a bit of a waste!

        I think it does upscale?

        thanks for the info

nothing else uses HDMI so it's just an empty input and saves using the xbox 360 for dvds
