    PSX unusual controller questions

I have two questions regarding unusual PSX controllers.

    1) At a boot sale recently I saw a huge PSX joystick controller. Similar to the Saturn/DC twinsticks, this had two huge sticks, but I believe the sticks were analog. I can't find these online and now wish I had bought them (their huge size couple with the hangover I was sporting at the time resulted in me not being arsed to lug them home). Does anybody know what these sticks are comatible with? I'm thinking some mech game or other is the most likely.

    2) Playstation Trakball. Anybody know if there are actually any games which are compatible with this? It would be nice if some of the retro packs are, but again, I can find little information.

    Thanks,

    Jay

This came out at around the same time as the Playstation itself. The Dual Shock is an evolution of the Analog Stick controller, in fact.

It was mainly used for flight sims (games like Ace Combat), there aren't really any other games that require it. Most everything else you can use a Dual Shock for.

The original Analog Pad that came out had two modes, 'green led' and 'red led'. Green led mode was comaptible with the analog stick you've seen, red led was compatible with the Dual Shock and gave you the extra L3 and R3 buttons. The original analog pads had indented analog thumb sticks and no force feedback. They were also slightly larger. I have a couple of these, I much prefer them to the Dual Shock.

The Analog Stick tends to go for ?15 - ?25 depending on condition, but isn't really saught after because there is no game in particular that requires it.

Never seen a Playstation Trakball, only the Sony PSone Mouse. I imagine the Trakball would be fully compatible with the mouse. Is this a third party device? Trying to rack my brain for Mouse games, can't really think of any. It'll be stuff like Sim City and maybe the odd light gun game that supports it.

Thanks for the info. Much appreciated.

      Here is the trakball:

Thirdparty and probably supported by bugger all. A shame.

      Cheers,

Further investigation (actually, a helpful soul from ccnuk) reveals that the PSX trackball is compatible with the mouse, and as such makes it compatible with the likes of Centipede and Marble Madness on the retro packs. Hurrah. I'll be getting one promptly.
